January – New Year’s Eve with the Charleses, hosted at theirs for some movie themed fancy dress and karaoke. Back to ours on New Year’s Day for a ham and leek pie.

Fun, post-Christmas karaoke session at home with Ab and Deb and the families, and mum and dad, after the Christmas festivities were curtailed by complications of Dave, Hannah and Piper coming along. https://photos.app.goo.gl/e1xUfvBotHY7adNy9

February – lovely mini-break with the Charleses to Devon. Crazy house which was quite maze-like downstairs. Phoebe’s school choir event at the NEC was a bit let down by her feeling very bus-sick and needing to be busted out early.

Enjoyed a trip in March to London to watch Phoebe performing with the Stage School team at the O2. Really super to see her and her buddies up on stage at such a wonderful location. Fun day out too, but driving there and back was a bit of a pain as it’s definitely not the easiest location to get to!

Break at Easter to the Hideaway in the Lakes. Couple of nights in the main hotel followed by two nights in their “treehouse” cabin. Fun walks

Got away for a weekend with the Burts and Reynolds to a nice place in Somerset. Highlight was the table tennis which turned into quite the competitive sport!
A scary few days when Coco got very ill and ended up back and forth to the vets. Think it turned out to be a stomach bug but she lost a lot of weight and definitely was in a bad way. Fortunately the drugs did their trick and she was back on form and putting on the weight soon enough.
John and Julia got to see Come from Away at the Birmingham Hippodrome and instantly booked to see it with the kids when it came to Bristol. Fantastic show that we all fell in love with. We all went to Hamilton in Bristol too.

Whychwood was a good day out as ever, though the headliners (Texas) weren’t a patch on last year.
John got away for a weekend in Nottingham with University buddies Rich and Phil and then a day at the test match at Trent Bridge.
Nana and Granddad’s 50th wedding anniversary was a party at their house in Monmouth with a bouncy assault course in the garden and professional photographer in tow. Fun day for all.
Our summer getaway was to Cyprus where we stayed at the Olympic Lagoon all-inclusive resort. Super hot and lots of scousers, but it was a great time away. Many days spent around the pool but had a few days out to the water park, on a boat trip with some sea-swimming, and out on the pedalos. Em and Phoebe took part in the talent show with a fantastic number from High School Musical

Got to see Starlight Express at the Wembley theatre in September. A bit stressful when we turned up to catch the tube into London to find the tubes were all down, so we ended up driving all the way in. Made it with minutes to spare! Everyone loved the show.

October half-term we headed to Saundersfoot with Martin and Brenda for some time by the sea. Really lucked out with the weather and even made it into the sea on day. Also had a great day out at Oakland theme park, which was deserted.

John hosted his work’s charity auction at the ND Collaboaration event – raised over £2,000 for charity and had a great time doing it.
In the run-up to Christmas, Emily was in the school play of City of Angeles as a Cop. She had a fun time after having missed the first couple of performances as she was really ill.
Christmas was at home, hosting Martin, Bren and Irene on Christmas day and then down to Monmouth to see the Moriartys on boxing day. Chilling out at home after that before hosting the Charleses on New Year’s eve. Roll on 2025!
